Can 5.1 home theater system works as a PC speakers?
I was wondering if 5.1 home theater system can be works as pc speakers. I know that 5.1 receiver does work by connecting the pc microphone input with the Y-cable and it works.
Does home theater system or most of them has that function? It’s the red and white inputs that put Y-cable with BTW.
Thanks!

Yes it can. You can run Red & White RCA y-cable from mini-jack to analog audio inputs on your Home Theater.
But, it’s very possible you have a digital audio output on your PC, too. That would work even better.
If you computer has a SPDIF connector (looks like a orange RCA jack) that will connect to COAX connectors on the Home Theater system. If your computer has a TOSLink connector, that will connect to the Optical connector.
Optical/TOSlink cables and Coax/SPDIF cables are inexpensive to make. Don’t over pay for them at Best Buy or retail stores. Check out Monoprice links below for super deals on great cables that work just like 20x-50x more expensive ones from Monster.
